From the Inside - Lindsey Littlefield
When we asked Willow Bend principal Lindsey Littlefield about her recent Facebook post called “Timeout Tuesday,” she shared this -
“Public education is taking a toll on so many people right now-not just educators but parents and students as well.
I want to make sure that through all of our conversations - around data and lessons and gradual release models and behavior and attendance - we still SEE THE GOOD each and every day in the work that we do.
I want my teachers to know I see them…
I value them…
and I affirm them and the work that they show up and put forth to invest in kids every single day.”
Lindsey, we SEE THE GOOD in you!
Thank you for allowing us to share your heartfelt and powerful words. It’s so good for others to hear perspective from the inside.
Below is her “Timeout Tuesday” post that she has given us permission to share.
This week, as I walked through the halls and sat in on some parent teacher conferences, I was reminded of the powerful partnership that exists between home and school. Teachers sat across from parents and made sure to share stories of growth, effort, and victories. This is all proof of the incredible things that happen when families and educators work as one team. Our teachers expressed their concern when a parent couldn’t make it, not out of frustration, but because they want every parent to hear how proud we are of their child. When parents can’t come in person, teachers are quick to pick up the phone, adjust their schedules, and make sure that connection still happens. That’s the heart of true partnership---meeting each other where we are, for the sake of the child.
What stood out most was the intentionality our teachers show in every conversation. Every parent first heard about their child’s strengths, their wins, and their progress. I believe feedback lands differently when it’s wrapped in care and grounded in celebration. When parents see that teachers truly know their child, their quirks, their talents, and their needs that trust is built. That trust becomes the foundation for everything else we all do together.
This level of partnership doesn’t just stay within the walls of a classroom, it ripples through the entire culture of our campus. When families feel valued and heard, they show up. When teachers feel supported, they lean in. When our students see the adults in their lives working together as teammates, they know they’re surrounded by a community that believes in them. ‘
One Team, One Goal!
